FMA Foundation Receives More Than $13,000 from the Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles raised more than $13,000 to support the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation’s campaign to create an Education and Resiliency Center for service personnel, their families and civilians at Fort George G. Meade.

During a pre-game ceremony on September 11, FMA Foundation President Deon Viergutz, FMA Foundation Treasurer Jay Baldwin and FMA President Steve Tiller were presented the donation by Orioles relief pitcher Darren O’Day.

This is the fourth consecutive year the Orioles have supported the FMA Foundation's resiliency campaign, raising more than $66,000 in total. The team auctioned off special autographed camouflage jerseys and caps worn by the players during the Memorial Day game earlier this season.

“We are grateful to the Baltimore Orioles for their ongoing support,” FMA Foundation President Deon Viergutz said. “ With the help of generous donors like the Orioles, we will provide a hub of educational and resiliency information, programming, and services to military families at Fort Meade.”

The FMA Foundation established the Resiliency Center Fund to raise the resources needed to renovate Kuhn Hall on the installation and convert it into an Education and Resiliency Center, which will provide services to support the five dimensions of resiliency: emotional, social, spiritual, family and physical health. The Education and Resiliency Center is expected to cost about $3 million. Learn more about how you can support the effort by visiting www.ftmeadealliancefoundation.org.
